White willow
White willow or salix alba is a medicinal herb native to Europe it is used as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antirheumatic, astringent and to reduce fever. Salicylic acid a constituent of whitewillow works like aspirin but with the added advantage that it does not thin out blood. Like aspirin it relieves pain and reduces fever.

Parts of White willow Used as a Medicinal Herb and How They are Used.

The bark is the part used for medicinal purposed. It is stripped from young branches and used as fresh or dried. White willow bark can be made into a tincture. To treat rheumatism take 4 dropperfuls of willow bark with water three times a day.

One can also make a decoction  of white willow, st John's wort and cramp bark to treat aching muscles and rheumatic muscles. For this you need to take at least one cup of this decoction three times a day.
